A contemporary double storey extension in beautiful Harborne transformed the life of one lucky family – more space, more comfort and a real investment in their quality of life
On this occasion, Lapworth Architects was engaged to design and build a residential extension in Harborne for a family who needed more space as they grew, and plumped for an ambitious double storey extension to meet their needs. This interwar property remained almost unchanged until purchased by our client in the early 2010s for his family.
We re-organised the interior of the building and added a second gabled wing extension to mirror the existing building to create a large family home with a contemporary interior finish that also markedly reduced their energy consumption.
The new wing housed a fantastic kitchen / breakfast room facing out onto the garden, which could be accessed via folding sliding doors. The modern decor was complemented by the huge skylights specifically requested by the client.
