green belt housing

Bourne Fields is one of the projects we’re most proud of, as it was a complex project that involved creating green belt housing and also retaining an access road to a quarry on the outskirts of the village of Aldridge, between Walsall and Sutton Coldfield.

In common with other developments of large homes in suburban locations we’ve done, there is a premium placed on space and open-plan living, to offer the greatest flexibility to the inhabitants and to futureproof their dwelling well into the future.

Each house on the development was unique, with a mixture of more traditional gabled houses with bay windows and porches, as well as more modern L-shaped farmhouse-style homes with floor-to-ceiling glazing. With each house being strikingly different, Lapworth Architects was able to show how green belt housing can be a combination of both heritage and contemporary-inspired architecture that respects the openness of its surroundings.
